Cutting and attaching calipers to PE brake discs

Hi

I have a Fujimi Gallardo and the Crazy Modeler PE set. I have a question about assembling the brakes. The PE has the parts for the disc, but how the heck do you get the original caliper onto there?? Help!

You need to cut the original caliper from the kit part.I usually use a razor saw for this task.Once removed clean it up a little and when you have assembled the photo etched brake parts you can glue the caliper onto it.Super glue or 5 min epoxy work the best.

I see, but how do you get the caliper to fit onto the disc? There's no space inside of the caliper for the disc to insert into.

You must file away some of the caliper material at the rear where you won't see it, to enable the disc to fit.

Re: Cutting and attaching calipers to PE brake discs

It is without a doubt a monstrous pain in the @ss. There is no simple, easy way to go about it. I have to do this sort of thing every time I machine brakes for a build, too. Usually I will do one, and then cast copies of it in resin. I've even resorted to using a mill to grind out the plastic, instead of going through the effort of doing it by hand. I do some highly unnecessary stuff on alot of my builds, but having to carve out four calipers by hand would always be enough to convince me to use the kit brakes unmodified.
