Re: air filter

open the hood.

You will be facing the engine looking backward toward the vehicle (opposite of driving direction).

To your right (driver's side) will be a black box rather large and conspicuous forward to the front of the engine (toward you). This black box will have four screws (or perhaps clips) which may be easy to accidentally drop, so use a magnetic screwdriver (mine takes a large Phillips = x shaped).

When the four screws are off, you can lift up the lid of this box (it will still be attached by a flexible hose).

There may not be much room to manuvoer around, but you should be able to see and pull out a white (hopefully) square shaped filter, made mostly of folded paper with some plastic or rubberized edges.

That is the air filter.

If you don't want to buy a new one, you can blow the dust out of the old one with a compressed air gun or even an aerosol can of 'air blower', sold for cleaning electronic parts.

Perhaps even a friendly mechanic would use his airgun to clean it out for you as a courtesy.

Good luck, and don't drop any screws into the engine compartment.
