Pls. help. '97 Jetta Low Oil Pressure
I have a '97 Jetta that sat without starting for about 6 mo. I tried starting it the other day and the oil pressure light wont go off. Checked oil level and it's good. It ran with no problems before the lay off. Is the oil pumped seized after sitting? If so how do I get it going? Thnx.

Re: Pls. help. '97 Jetta Low Oil Pressure
If the engine is ticking bad, replace the oil pump.
If not replace the oil pressure switches (1 on driver side of cylinder head and another above oil filter on housing)

Yea, it's def. ticking... So what do you think happened? The oil-pump that was working just fine got gummed-up and froze from sittnig too long? Bummer to have to replace it. I was just gonna sell it.

Re: Pls. help. '97 Jetta Low Oil Pressure
The lifters are probably dry from sitting for so long. If the oil pressure is fine at idle let the car run at idle for 45min or untill the clacking resides.
