Clutch & brake pedal assembly question
OK, I do not have a Cherokee but a '94 Grand Cherokee and I have some ideas of placing a 5 speed manual transmission behind the 5.2L engine that is in it. I pretty much have an idea of what transmission I may be able to use(NV3500) and also have an idea of what to do with the brake pedal and to get a clutch pedal. I plan on cutting down the brake pedal to a normal sized manual brake pedal and for the clutch I figured I could buy a floor mount hydraulic clutch kit(might look ugly though) if I have to though. Not sure about what transfer case I may be able to use YET.
Anyway my question is would anybody here in the Cherokee forums have any idea whether or not the pedal assembly from a Cherokee may work in a '94 Grand Cherokee and what year I may need? I know the Grand Cherokee did release 1,500 with standard transmissions in '93 but they also had the 4.0L engine and the AX-15 manual transmission which won't bolt up to the 5.2L engine and even if it did would probably not handle the torque especially when in bad situations. I have been searching for the pedal assembly from one of these with no luck also. Any help and ideas would be appreciated. |

Re: Clutch & brake pedal assembly question
Alright, I did some more searching around and found out I would be better using the NV3350 transmission and the NP241OR transfer case. I may have to find a different crank cause a lot of the 5.2L(318) engines were not drilled for a pilot bearing(that is really no problem though). I actually found a site that can help me out with the bellhousing and most of the other parts I need BUT I am still wanting to know about the Cherokee pedal assembly in a Grand Cherokee? Anyone have a clue r is this completely new territory I am walking into on my own?

Re: Clutch & brake pedal assembly question
93 grand Cherokee's came with a 5 speed stick shift option(4.0L only) it came with an ax-15. i would go for the stock 93 clutch pedal assembly and clutch master. it would make the conversion that much easier
i find it hard to believe that the 5.2 was not designed to be mated to any manual transmission. im not a chrysler guy but i know the engine was used in a lot of dodge, chrysler, and jeep truck/ Lt. truck suv and probably car platforms |
