2001 Silhouette VCR Audio

I recently purchased a 2001 Oldsmobile Silouette with the VCR player. WIth the car radio off the audio comes out of the speakers by the LCD screen. WIth the radio on there is no audio from the VCR.

My sister has a 2000 Silohouette and hers has a switch to send the VCR audio to the headphone jacks in the rear. I cannot find a switch like this. Is ther one or is there no way to send the VCR audio to the headphones?

Re: 2001 Silhouette VCR Audio

I have a similar problem with a 2000 Silhouette. There is an unmarked toggle switch that I thought would send the audio to the headphones or speakers, but it has no effect. I can get no sound, even though the audio cables appear to be correctly connected the DVD player. The video comes through perfectly.

Well, I found the manual for my DVD (it's an Audiovox) and figured out the problem on my van. The switch on the dash turns on an RF broadcast to FM channel 89.1 (some models broadcast to 88.7 instead).

I got my wife to read the manual (Yea yeah I don't want to hear it) turns out that there is no way to send the VCR audio to the headphones in this model.

Re: 2001 Silhouette VCR Audio

GM must've gotten smarter over the years as my '06 Uplander, ( for which the Silhouette would be identical to if they were still in production,)that option is available with the factory DVD player. My kids can watch their DVDs with headphones on in the back while my wife and I can listen to the radio up front. The option to do this lies with a switch on the DVD system itself.
