Re: how to
Here ya go. I pasted this from a different thread. Try searching the forum for an answer for now on whenever you need something. Most of the time, someone else has already had your problem. That will save you the time of waiting for an answer.
![]() P.S. the ACC position is one click back with your key. I had a different set of instructions and it was confusing. I worked on it for about half an hour to no avail. After figuring it out, I got it right the first time. It took me less than 3 minutes to do the whole procedure for three remotes. You have to program any new remotes as well as remote(s) you already have. You can reprogram it like this. 1. Remove the key from the ignition. 2. Close all of the doors. 3. Remove the “ MALL PGM” fuse from the fuse panel. Use the legend on the fuse panel or owner’s manual to properly locate the “ MALL PGM” fuse. 4. Insert the keys into the ignition, and turn to the ACC position. 5. Turn the key to OFF and then back to ACC within 1 second. 6. Open and close any vehicle door. A chime will be heard when the system enters the programming mode. 7. Press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for 14 seconds. IMPORTANT: After 7 seconds, a chime may be heard confirming successful synchronization. It is necessary to wait approximately 14 seconds for a second chime that will confirm successful programming. 8. Repeat the previous step on each additional transmitter to be programmed (including any existing remotes). 9. Remove the key from the ignition. 10. Install the “MALL PGM” fuse.

Re: how to
Make sure you have the correct remote as well:

Re: how to
Would these instructions work for a 1999 Grand Prix GT?

Re: how to
Does reprogramming the remote program the car to the remote or the remote to the car? Meaning could I use the same remote on two different cars?

Re: how to
Tain, yes, those instructions also apply to a 99 model.
Wally, it programs the remote to the car. That's why you have to resync/reprogram after a battery change. Regretfully, you can't use one remote for multiple cars.
