distributor shaft won't turn!!!!1

I replaced the head gasket on my 2.5 89 lebaron and I put on a different head...I thought I had the cam gear on the same way as the old head...but when I tryed to start the car I guess it sheared something that drives the distributor ....Can anyone tell me if I killed the engine or is there something I my do to save the engine....PLEASE HEL!!!!!!

The distributer is driven off of a secondary shaft, not the camshaft. Check to see if your camshaft is turning. It is possible that the timing belt lost tension from a lose tensioner bolt or did not get tightened up right to begin with when you reassembled. If neither the camshaft or the distributer turn, then you need to reset the timing belt and tensioner. No worries because the 2.5 in a non-interference engine. But if the camshaft turns and the distributer does not, the problem is in between the secondary shaft and the distributer. I don't think your engine is ruined.
