Need some help!

I have noticed the past couple off days that I have a continous very very very low popping coming from what I think is the left tire. Sometimes while driving if I go over a bump or bad road I hear something knocking in the tire. Any suggestions?

Re: Need some help!

Does it have sway bar links or bushings?
I would look all front end parts over.
Lot of the have noise from steering shaft and sway bar links.
For the steering shafts dealer may have a grease kit.
Have dealer run Vin for all tsb and recalls on front end noise.
A good front end shop or repair may help point you in the right direction.

Re: Need some help!

Had a guy take a look, and he said that everything looked okay. I didn't have any play in my wheel, the rotors were new as well as the breaks. I asked him about the CV joint, and he said he didn't see any grease from where is may have broke, but also said that just because there wasn't any signs of something bad doesn't mean it isn't.. He said that a small ticking noise is common in CV joints.

Something that I noticed the other day is when I get above the 40 MPH mark and let my car coast when I hit the gas I hear one hard knock sound. Sounds like it coming from the wheel area. It won't do it your below the 40 MPH mark usually, and you have to be slowing down but above 40 MPH to get it to make the sound.

Re: Need some help!

For a clunk noise when you let up and mash down on gas check all engine and transmission mounts.
You need to seperate drive line noise or road bump noise.
Good Luck MT

Re: Need some help!

I have taken the car to two shops now and I get the same answers and reactions from both.

Both mechanics were unable to hear the clicking noise. I hear it plain as day and I can't for the like of me understand why they can't hear it. Maybe they both have bad hearing.. I don't know...

Also when I recreate the clunking noise they both looked at me like I was an idiot and tell me it's normal and/or it's because it's the way I drive.

I have driven another Gran Prix doing the same thing and I don't get the clunking noise.

The mech today told me he still couldn't hear the clicking noise and couldn't get it to act funny.. He said he put it up onto a lift and didn't see anything out of the ordinary..

WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW.. THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS?!?!

Re: Need some help!

Drive with ear plugs. j/k. Aside from hearing anything, does the steering or driving act unusual? Is there anything about what the car does or how it performs that leads you to believe anything is wrong?

I had a similar problem with a friend's car and it turned out to be the sway bar end links and bushings. If a mechanic looked it over and didn't see it, I just might see if the problem worsens. If it doesn't, who knows; you may just have a car that makes a weird noise. Do you trust both of the mechanics you took your car to? Have they proven themselves to be reliable?

Re: Need some help!

This first mechanic was a guy that was suggested to me that live in my home town that is a well known mechanic. The other one is just some guy that works for the dealership.

And yes the steering sometimes feels like it is popping when going around a turn while breaking..

And when you break it slighty slighty vibrates.. But I have new breaks and rotors.

Re: Need some help!

What did the mechanics say when you told them that you can "feel" the pop and that the brakes vibrate?
