Re: 104 octane stock ok?

why would you waste the money? You have dont really have any mods that require you to run anything higher than premium 91 or 92. 104 isnt going to be cheap. But lets see what Bob says.

BTW, whats the deal, I thought Camaro RS's came with 350's?

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

Before using any race gas double check the specs on it. The company that makes it and what formula. A lot of race gas is leaded so it will kill your CAT converter and 02 sensors. I use VP Racing C10 unleaded at the strip. The motor octane is 96 and research octane 104.

For your mods it will probably be worthless. In my case I use a 3.0 SC pulley at the strip so the race gas helps. The stuff is expensive too.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

to tblake the 89 rs had either a 2.8 v6 or a 305 v8 mine had the v6.the place here that has race gas is unleaded,i tried telling him that it wouldnt make a difference but he insists on getting it and paying for it.i mean if it cant hurt anything i guess itll smell good atleast.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

hurry up and throw a modular pulley system on there. Put a 3.5" on for the race.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

Meaning you're probably screwed. It has the LT1 5.7L small block engine rated at 275 hp and 325 ft-lb torque. I would agree with TBlake's suggestion. Good luck!

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

Hey, that was a pretty dang good guess!!!!

Yeah, my '96 had the LT1 and I raced a GTP when I had it. Yeah, the GTP looked pretty bad.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

Oh well what can you say. In the mean time he probably needs all the help he can get. See his other post.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=909491

Of course, if he were adequately modded it would be a different issue.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

Yes, with the right mods, he could kill the camaro.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

i may not be as screwed as everyone thinks.my bro in law cant drive for crap.it only spins one wheel.our track is slick so he will spin forever.i have way better reaction times.he hits the rev limiter in every gear.the cars been overheated before.and ive seen him floor it and it didnt impress me.now i may get my ass handed to me but until i see that camaro do it i wont believe it.a perfectly fine lt1 would whoop me all day but idt that one will.also ive almost saved enough up for a 3.5 pulley and the puller so hopefully next time i go itll be installed.

Re: 104 octane stock ok?

All my brother in laws (outlaws) know how to do is drink booze like fish. Best thing to do is tell him to put his money where his mouth is. Pull out one of these. You might win by default. Works for me. We just don't like seeing fellow GTP owners lose.

Good luck!!!!!
