ODBI Distributor wiring

Ok, I'm having a stupid moment here, but I'm converting my other hatch to OBDI. I already have the Boomslang harness for it, but I'm working on making a jumper harness for the distributor.

Now the instructions say that all the distributor wires match up except the "Large" white wire on the OBD0 side needs to go to the Yellow/Green wire on the OBDI side. My problem is there is no "large" white wire, the is only 2 white wires, same gauge. I'm assuming the lone white wire is the one they are talking about because all the other wires are paired together further down the harness.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong here.

3rd post down they talk about stripping back the loom to find the unshielded white wire. Don't know if that helps any.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Yep, that is the solo wire, that is the way I wired it up. Couldn't find my damn heat shrink so I just used some liquid electrical tape on it. I have the jumper harness done, working on doing all the MPFI wiring now.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Frodo: On the y8 does it have one or 2 sensor's above the oil filter on the block? I've noticed my z6 only has 1 there while my d15 and b18 both have 2. I have to find another sensor for there, but don't know which one it is, lol.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Well the y8 has a knock sensor, and oil press sensor. I dont recall anything else under there. the b18 you have is obd0 right? So itll have the radiator fan switch on it as well instead of the thermo housing like the z6/y8, that's prolly what your seeing.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Just thought about this, but do I need to re route those 2 wires up to the thermostat housing for the new thermoswitch?

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Yup yup. Oryou could be like the previous owner of my car when they put a d15b7 in and still ran on dual port.. jumped the plug with some wire and a ball of aluminum foil shoved in to hold it. Oh well, at least there wasn't a single cut wire on the car till me.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Wow...that was nice of them.

I finished the Distributor jumper harness today, didnt work on it much. I was going to get some heatshrink and put over it, but forgot that only Autozone has the rolls of it. So it has liquid electrical tape around the actual soldered connection, then I wrapped each wire individually with electrical tape, then all together with it. I would have prefered the heat shrink, but I think this will work fine also.

Once I stop being lazy, I will finish the chassis side of the MPFI/OBDI wiring and then work on the engine side of it all before I install the engine in the car.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

is this boomslang harness like the rywire harness with the 7 or 8 extra wire you have to hook up for the o2 sensor and so forth. im also needing to convert to obd1 for my engine/turbo swap.

Re: ODBI Distributor wiring

Yes, it comes with the jumper harness for the ECU and there is also 2 extra plugs(atleast on the DPFI version) for the extra wires for Vtec, O2, knock sensor, IAB, injectors and distributors. Comes with some nice instructions also, I am very pleased with the harness.
