I found a jem of a 9C1, but need some help from yall
Okay, a Dallas fire station is auctioning off a 9C1 that I checked out today. I went to kick the tires a bit, and here is what I found.
Pros: 1.Battalion(sp?) chiefs car, never driven like a cop cruiser. 2.98,000 orignial miles 3.Bucket seats 4.Power windows and locks 5.When it was last driven, everything worked. It has sat for 1.5 years cause it wouldnt pass emissons and the city deemed it not worth the money to repair it 6.Never been wrecked Cons: 1.Paint is pretty bad 2.The battery was dead, so I couldnt verify any of the claims that the vehicle was in working order 3.Tires need to be replaced soon 4.Did not pass emissons, so I dont know if there is some underlying problem that was never futher investigated The bid as of an hour ago was $475, and it has not changed in a week. My question that I need help with from yall is: how much would you be willing to pay for the vehicle based on these descriptions? Since the man I talked to about all of this was a city official, I could not help but believe what he said in reguards to the car. Re: I found a jem of a 9C1, but need some help from yall
I paid $600, in 2002, for the car I have now. It was in much, much worse condition than this car is here. I wound up having to invest almost $1000 into the car to make it streetable. I still get people who think I am crazy for putting that much money into a car this old, especially given what I paid for it to begin with, but one thing is certain - my car is in better mechanical condition now than most cars on the street are.
If I was the one looking at this car, it'd be hard to see where I'd go wrong with it once I got it.

Shoot I'd pay up to $750 for it and use it for parts myself.

My personal rule #1 for buying a car = If it can move under it's own power, it is worth $500.
Buy it!

Re: I found a jem of a 9C1, but need some help from yall
im a cheap pr*ck, i only paid $100 for my white 88 LS Brougham. it needed a water pump (i took care of that myself), my 83 caprice i traded a 74 honda dirt bike for (only paid 150 for that). i would pay up to $1000 for that car. just last year i saw an 85 caprice in a little better condition go for $2300 here... think about it this way, the engine, trans, and rear end are worth $625
