700r4 putting 2WD trans in 4X4?
I have a 1989 silverado 4X4 in need of a tranny. I am having a hard time finding a tranny out of a 4X4. I did happen on to one out of a 2WD. My question is can I take the tail off this 2WD tranny and use it. I have did this before, but not with this make or model. I would appreciate any info from you good folks who have made this work or who know better than to try it. thanks

The output shaft is different between the 2wd and 4wd; unfortunately, to change the output shaft, you will have to disassemble the transmission.
