Stumble problem, also what next?
Hello, I am having a problem with my car that i cannot seem to diagnose or fix. I have a 95' Eclipse GS w/ a Hahn stage 2 turbo kit, port fueler, and others that came with the kit, as well a other mods. Rebuilt engine, forged internals. All work was done pro, and for the longest time the car ran so smooth it was amazing. Up until about a month ago, at least. Now it seems to have developed a stumble, heres the details...
When I accelerate, in low range(not really trying to get into it, just normal driving) the engine(im guessing) starts to stumble a little, not too much to where its a serious problem, but it is a problem none the less, and can be quite aggrivating. Also if im cruising at a steady speed, at a moderate rpm, just going down the road, itll stumble a little. But as soon as it begins to boost, the stumble does not occur. Under boost its fine. I have a boost controller and keep the boost set at 18, but can run it at about 22 and be fine. What could possibly be the cause? The settings are all ok, and it cant be the kit thats the problem bc it happens when im driving normal, not under boost. I cant seem to figure out what in the hell is the matter haha...anybody ever have this problem, or know what could be the cause, PLEASE help...it is greatly appreciated...
Ive been surfing this site for a while, and know my way around it pretty well, but this is my first post...im glad you all are hopefully able to help me out, I dont really know what else to do.
One more question, I was curious as to all of your opinions on what I should do next to my project. The next thing I want to do is to improve on the low end acceleration and try to improve on the turbo lag as well. Any tips or suggestions would also be greatly appreciated!! To help you get a better understanding of where im at in the project, ill list my mods below, thanks!
Hahn racecraft stage 2 turbo kit, Hahn portfueler, tach adapter, fuel regulator, turbo back 3'' exhaust, iridium plugs, fuel pump, racing radiator, aem air intake, side mount ic, boost controller, turbo timer, front and rear strut bars, coilover kit, various gauges, ect.
Another problem is that the bov that came with the kit was intended to be used with a boost pressure of no more than 8-10 psi, it came out of a vr4, and since ive rebuilt the engine, I now run much more than that, and will be getting a better bov, bc I do get compressor surge when I max out the boost sometimes. Just letting you know all i know in case this helps with my other problem. Thanks!!
