LS1 swap in an 01 blazer

Ok I have been planning on doing this since I bought my truck. Just for shits and giggles could everyone let me know what all I would need to do so I can start planning. Also should I run a carb or leave it fuel injected? Would I have to change the rear end(I think I'd have to)? If so what kind of rear end should I use? Has anyone done thios mod? Are there sites I can go to? I helped my cousin about 6 years ago drop a 327 into his 87 S10 pickup and it was a beast. He told me to use an LT1 because the block is stronger but the LS1 weighs less which I figured would give me better power to weight ratio as well as handling. BTW the truck is a 4.3 and an auto. This is something I plan on doing over a period of time, buying parts here and there until I get everything I need to swap motors.

Re: LS1 swap in an 01 blazer

There are a couple 2nd gen s-series trucks with LS swaps. You need an engine/trans combo with the pcm and wiring, swap motor mounts and headers, a swap oil pan, and possibly 97 vette front accessories. If your conserned about the block, you could use an iron LQ9 6.0 block. Not sure of all the other little things. Your better off keeping it fuel injected to keep it emissons legal. I would start looking around v8s10.org to get more ideas.
