'01 Jetta Dash light problems

I have an 01 Jetta that the dash lights for the tachomoter and speedometer will not stay on constantly. I have fussed with it for a couple days now and Im at my wits end trying to figure it out. Originally it had a blown fuse, so I pulled out the old one and replaced it. It worked fine when I tested it then after using it for about 30min they shut off again. All of the other lights work...

I pulled the fuse, this time it wasnt bad, but put it back in and tested the fuse box for shorts ect with a multimeter. I also pull out the after market CD player that I have installed and rechecked all of my wiring to ensure that nothing what grounding out or anything.(which everything checked out ok with both)

It worked again for about 20min of nighttime driving then went out again. Now I dont know what to do!

I dont know if this is related or not but i did find a couple of blown fuses all at once and though maybe there was a short in the switch or the instrument panel lights..... maybe?? The fuses were to the rear left (Driver side) tail light, ABS, and instrument lights. The airbag light is also constantly on now which it wasnt before i think that just needs a reset from an srs tool. The car is currently being used by my girlfriend that is an hour away so I have to pretty much schedule time to work on it. Thus im hoping someone here either knows the problem or knows how to fix it fast and decently cheap!
