1991 honda civic amp install
Im helping a friend install a pioneer amp that came with his 1991 honda civic and i was wondering where the best place to draw power would be? I would really like to just tie it into the ignition that way i dont have to worry about it draining the battery. Not really familiar with hondas so if anyone has wiring diagrams or any advice i would appreciate it. The way it is hooked up now is it is just drawing power directly from the battery.
Thanks |

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
right to the battery. Make sure you have the correct amperage in-line fuse connected to the wire before the amplifier.

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
the main power comes from a wire directly attached to the battery, there is also a small turn-on wire that comes from the head unit that acts as a switch to turn the amp on when the head unit turns on.

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
Yeah the power comes directly from the battery. And yes like stated previously you will need a in line fuse after the battery. You will have to get the right amperage fuse also depending on what size wire you got.

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
yo can always install a switch so u can turn it on manually. I did that on my one friends car. all you have to do is had a power wire with a fuse on it heading to one part of the switch, and the amp's power coming from the other part of the switch

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
if you want to install a power switch its not safe to install it on the power wire, install it on the remote wire... Most headunits have a sub on/off so installing a switch is a waste of time

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
agreed, you wouldn't want a switch carrying that kind of current

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
it really is safer than you think it would be. the owner of the car i had installed it on is a automotive technician/Mechanic, and it was his idea to install it. So he would know if it was safe or not. ad of course there would be a fuse on the power wire.

Re: 1991 honda civic amp install
unless its a very heavy duty switch that can handle alot of amps then it's not safe.
