WIP: Yet Another B-Body Wagon: Customer's '92 Olds Custom Cruiser
Here we go again.
This'll be a bit interesting though. The 91-92 Olds Custom Cruiser was the oddball B-Body wagon, it was only offered early on in the run, and was a half-assed mix of the Buick Roadmaster and Chevy Caprice. Some would say it's the nicest of the three in terms of styling--it features the clean, simple door pillars of the Caprice, with the Vista Roof of the Buick. It also has it's own unique grille, which will be the most challenging part of this build. Russ is looking into possibly casting one for me, if not I'm sure how I'll make it. ![]() I'll be using the usual modelhaus.com Roadmaster Estate kit, since converting the c-pillars is a lot easier than cutting a Vista Roof out. ![]() ![]() Here you can see the stock Buick pillars, and how I've cut them out like a Caprice... Still rough of course. ![]() ![]() And here we're starting the body work, shaving off the woodgrain trim surround, since this wagon has no wood trim. Also shaving off the Roadmaster badges. |

The olds was the coolest/lamest of the wagons. I think it's cool at least. Good luck with this one dude

Re: WIP: Yet Another B-Body Wagon: Customer's '92 Olds Custom Cruiser
My first ever front clip swap... Basically, I figured I'd swap in the front clip of an Impala SS, rather than modify the Roadmaster's bumper to look like the Chevy/Olds piece. This also has the bonus of giving me a hood I don't have to scribe and cut out of the body. Just had to add and re-scribe some of the side trim at the back of each front fender (that little piece of styrene down by the wheel-well), which I'll finish up and then shoot with the first coat of primer. As you can see the wood trim was also removed from the side of the car.

Body all pretty much figured out, just need to do some more sanding and priming.

More progress on DBeasst's Olds. Still has that "damn" chevy bowtie on the grille, as I'm still brainstorming on how to make the Olds grille...
![]() My photography skills are still lacking, so I took the second pic to show off the shine from the GM Sapphire Black Metallic. ![]() |

Got the engine and interior assembled, and even found one of those infernal TBI air cleaners in my parts box. Just need to clean it up of course. Final chrome work and paint are occurring on the body now, then I'll move onto that damn grille...

Re: WIP: Yet Another B-Body Wagon: Customer's '92 Olds Custom Cruiser
Got the body mostly done, just need to clean up the chrome trim in places, and clean it thoroughly... The wheels appear to be 16 scale inches instead of 15, but they were easily the closest I could find... Also for some reason the hood doesn't fit over the rad support, even though everything lines up like a regular Revell Impala kit... Guess I have some cutting and re-measuring to do...
