b16 crx axle question

i just did a b16 crx swap. the axle on the driver side just doesnt seem to be working right. the wheel vibrates a lot when driving. i used the axle from a 91 teg and i inspected the axle before i put it on. they are fine.

the question is, the engine i bought came with the half shaft. it is a jdm. does that jdm half shaft not work right with our cars? is it a different size than usdm? is that the cause of my problem. should i replace the half shaft or am i wasting my time?

thanks

Re: b16 crx axle question

The JDm halfshaft will not work with USDM integra axles. You will need to get a USDM integra halfshaft. Also, there is a little dust cover/ring on the inside of the hub, that needs to be popped off as well.

Actually some JDM halfshafts do work. It's the JDM Y1 from the SiR that won't work with 90-93 integra non-ABS axles. The JDM S1, YS1, and J1 will work with the 90-93 integra axles (assuming it's a 5 speed intermediate shaft). Also, you can get a USDM integra S1 or A1 5 speed intermediate shaft, and that will work with the 90-93 teg axles.

Nope, it goes arround right where the axle goes into the hub.

Re: b16 crx axle question

so, could the problem have been that i did not pop off that ring on the hub the whole time? could that have been why the axle was just a little long causing the wheel to shake?

exactly how would the jdm halfshaft not work so i can tell if i need a new one?

Re: b16 crx axle question

3-4" in diameter maybe, and the actual metal is about 1/4".

im not sure as to the length, but the inner splines are larger to match the larger holes in the B series/ZC tranny

if you have a 91 teg half shaft (assuming it's from a 5 speed), then use the 90-93 integra 5 speed non-ABS axles. simple as that. 86-89 wont work. i used hybrid 86-89 axles w/ SiR parts when i was runnin my Y1 half shaft. but just use the 90-93's w/ the intermediate shaft you have.
