95 GT 5.0 Dip Stick Question

Just snag a 95 Mustang GT 5.0 Convertible Auto, We went to change out the oil in it. The manual call for 5 quarts w/ oil filter so we do all the necessary to do with an oil change. Well we filled her up with 4 quarts just to make sure we didn't over do it and the oil line is 4-5 INCHES ABOVE THE FULL LINE!!!! I damn near crap my pants. We figure we either did something wrong or the previous owner threw the wrong dip stick in. We brought some friends over who built and own Mustangs and had us drain the car bone dry (or so we thought). As nothing else would come out of the drain line, we check the dip stick to see if there was oil left, sure shit enough there is oil still over the full line!
Now our question is. Can we have the wrong dip stick in? Have you guys had any problems with this? Thanks
-Austin.

Re: 95 GT 5.0 Dip Stick Question

Sounds like you may have some major sludge in the pan. I would advise dropping the oil pan to see whats going on.
