96 cavalier no power when accelerating

Can somebody please give me some good advice/news? I have a 96 cavalier 2.2 automatic, 129K miles. In the last few months I've noticed that at times I wouldn't have much power when I step on the gas and the engine would rev, but after a few seconds it would be fine and drive normally. This had only been happening when starting again from a stop. And there's been a few times where it has stalled on me when I am just sitting like at a stop light? or a drive thru window? Someone told me it was probably the fuel injectors and to just go buy a bottle of cleaner at and auto store to put in my gas tank. Well I did that, and ever since the problem has gone from bad to worse. Now instead of just occassionally having the acceleration problem, it's constant, I can feel the engine revving all the time, and today I had the gas pedal down to the floor just to get the car up to 60mph. the check engine light hasn't come on, nor any other lights? Do I need to have my injectors cleaned or is this something far worse???

Re: 96 cavalier no power when accelerating

have you tried changing the air and fuel filters? also you said that you hear the engine rev, is the tranny slipping?
