Fastest Modified Trucks

I'm a newb when it comes to trucks and I only slightly caught the fever after watching Cannonball Run, after I saw the GMC whatever model it was jump the train, and from the side, with those fenders it's like a giant lemans race car(my opinion) but with a truck bed!!

So what are the fastest modified trucks in the past 20 years or so?

WARNING: I do not mean Nastrucks, I never understood them, how are they any different from Nascar?

Hope I posted in the right thread, Thanks in advance!

Re: Fastest Modified Trucks

yeah its not too hard to make a fast older chevy or something like that. use the chevy th400 automatic and put a 2000 or 3000 rpm stall speed torque converter in it, then get a 350 and put new heads on it and cam, intake, exhaust, and carb... depending on your streetability wants and desires, you can make over 500 horsepower naturally aspirated with a 350 smallblock chevy... im sure its similiar for ford trucks and dodge trucks as well...... some factory "quick" pickups are the dodge express truck that was the fastest production vehicle made in 1977 or something like that, the ford lightning or whatever, and the chevy 454SS, all 3 pretty damn quick and good enuf for me in my opinion lol

The only reason the Ford Lightening fast is because of the supercharger. Take away the SC and you got a F-150 POS.
The 350's and 305's are highly modifible. Which is really nice.. The 454 SS was a very nice truck.. not as fast as it should have been for a 454, but definetly a nice truck.

Re: Fastest Modified Trucks

lol shows what i know about fords... yeah the only problem i guess with highly modded small blocks is that they suck at low end rpm's if you put too big of a cam in them to get that 500 horsepower, although a compromise cam can make over 400 horsepower and still make over 400 lb/ft of torque under 3000 rpm.

Don't forget in 1991 or 1992 the gmc syclone shall i quote the unforgettable 4.3 S-15 very impressive all wheel drive truck. I think the truck was 0-60 in 4.9 sec. where the ZR1 corvette was 4.4 sec .
