Need opinions on cams for a friend's 02 2.2 ecotec

A friend of mine has an 02 Cavalier with the 2.2 ecotec and a manual trans. Currently has AEM long ram intake, header, pacesetter catback w/ meagan racing muffler, RKSport ignition springs, and B&M shifter. He is now looking into cams but he doesn't want to have to reflash the computer. He sent me a link to a pair made by Comp, see here. Are those cams a decent set or is there another set under $500 that will yield more gains while still maintaining the stock tuning? I know very little about this engine so i have no idea how aggressive of a cam the stock computer will work with. Thanks in advance

They make a stage 1-3. 3 is way to aggressive for that car, 2 will be nice.

On an N/A engine, would the comp stage 2 require tuning?

The car will run w/o tuning, If you really want to reap the true benefits then I personally would. The stage 3's, guys tend to throw codes with them, the stage 2's don't. The lope pretty well too. But to really reap the benefits from the cams moving your red line higher around 7k rpms would be beneficial, but that requires some head work to handle it. ( stiffer VS's, valves, retainers, P&P, etc)l. If anything, have your friend get a Pyrometer to watch the EGT's to be safe that he's not leaning out.
