GTO running laps at Homestead Speedway.

A few weeks ago I mentioned the wife and I and our car club had all gone to a race and car-show event at the Homestead speedway. there was indy car racing, hot chicks, rolex gt and daytona proto races, more hot chicks.

Well that day the event organizers came up to our group and invited us for a very special session the following day. They asked if we wanted to come back the following day and do some laps behind a pace truck on the speedway's oval. out of 72 cars that day 56 came back the following to run the oval. Three laps in our own cars at 120 mph. the speed may be dull but on the turns at that incline it feels like your falling for 20 or so seconds. IT WAS INSANE!

anyway the SSP fotographer just send me some pics check it out.

This is my fav. pic.
In the lead is the clubs prez. Ruben and behind him all 52 cars in single file, you can see the line goes up the highway and vanishes over the crest.

In the entrance to the oval just before the PIT are.

runing laps round the track.

Pretty damn cool. To be honest, the Prez has a nice Maro. I've never really liked the look of them compared to the TA, but that one is extremely nice.

Must've been pretty cool to get your club noticed enough to come back to the track for a run around.

Man it was a blast! its a bit ominus to drive down the pit lane and go up into the track and the first thing you see is a tire thread marks on the floor that go straight up into the wall and a huge burn mark on the wall where cars have crashed and bursted into flames and you driving in there thinking OMG!

Re: GTO running laps at Homestead Speedway.

Thinking of tire tracks reminded me of the time I almost fell asleep at the wheel. I started to follow tracks at one point that were swerving to the side when I had the Civ, nearly ended up in the ditch.

What woke me up was the vibration of me going off road and driving on rough terrain.

Also the story of going on the tracks reminds me of the trip my dad and I went down to Vegas together. We got to go around Vegas Speedway in 2 seater Indy's. We hit speeds of 140 mph (just to be safe ). I remember the turns just pulled me right to the side though.

Man, I feel the need to go hit up a go kart track and pull some turns for shits and giggles again.

Re: GTO running laps at Homestead Speedway.

mushman, that looks like so much fun. i know 120 isnt that impressive, but at least you got to drive on a track. that looks too fun. heck, if i was driving, my car would be at the max of 120, as it cant go any faster, and its scary at that speed.
