Electrical Hell...

As I am not a mechanic, I apologize if this sounds a little unprofessional. I have a 97 Dodge Dakota 3.9 Extended Cab. I just got my truck back from the mechanic that changed my serpentine belt. Now, out of the blue the power windows do not work all the time. When it it works, everything is fine and dandy. When it's not, well that's why I'm here. Here are the symptoms. When on the fritz, the power window switch is pressed, the windows don't move, the brake light on the back of the cab lights up with each press of the window switch. The cab lights and the cluster gauge dim, with the exception of the directional arrow indicators and the high beam indicator are on and are bright, also when the power windows aren't working my turning signals do not work, at all. But wait there's more, when you press on the cluster gauge(pushing it towards the engine block) with light to moderate pressure, everything works?

What in the hell is wrong with my possessed truck?

Sincerely,

One very confused person.

Re: Electrical Hell...

I would ask the mechanic if he unhooked the battery cables or any ground wires. I think you have a loose ground connection or battery positive connection. I would check these items first.
Auto Zone or Advanced Auto will check your charging system free.

Sound like it is searhing for a ground point. The windows and center mounted stop lamp share the same ground. G 202 is located on the far right side of the dash area. You have to search for it and make sure you have a tight and clean connection. Have you had any dash A/C work; or air bag work done recently?

Re: Electrical Hell...

The recent work that has been done on my truck from most recent is:

Replacement of Serpentine Belt
Replacement of Heater Core

I've also noticed another "symptom". During the time that the windows don't work, the ABS light blinks on and off about every 5 seconds, but when it blinks off and then it comes back on it makes a clicking sound in the engine block area.

Thank you guys,

G 200 ground is also the main ground for the Rwal controller and the cluster. Heater core replacement the dash had to come out.
