I have a 93 Grand Am v6 3300. Today I noticed smoke coming out from right front wheel. And it looks like my breaks only on the right front wheel are locked. I had this problem before, when my breaks got hot, right front break would kinda lock (not completely locked I was still able to drive and stop) and get really hot. When I push the breaks, going 30 or 40mph, and then let go, the car seems to be slowing down by itself like I never let go of the breaks and this happens after I drive for 10-20 mins in the city with a lot of stopping. When I start up the car in the morning and start driving, breaks seem to work just fine. I took it to the mechanic, he checked it out and said everything was ok, but I still had the problem, and today it started smoking. I have no idea what can be the problem. I will appreciate any help. Thank you.

Re: Break Problem
Have you tried changing the brake line. I had the same problem on a Ford Probe with the brakes sticking and overheating. Mine would get red hot and smoke. Someone mentioned that they were pretty sure the problem was that the brake line has an inside lining and that it was probably collapsing. We changed the brake line and haven't had the problem since. It is a cheap fix if that is the problem. Good Luck.

Re: Break Problem
Yes, it is most likely the brake line. The inner liner can break and it will flap over which keeps the brake fluid from returning from the caliper. If you don't use the brake for awhile or over night, the fluid slowly bleeds back and everything is fine till you hit the brake again. I have replace alot of these in my time. The line breaks from flexing everytime you turn the wheel. You should replace both front lines at the same time!!!
