Manual transmission stuck in 3rd gear

I have a 97 cavalier z22 and my transmission is stuck in 3rd gear, the shift moves freely back and forth in the center but will not go anywhere else not side to side or into any gears. possibly the cables??

Re: Manual transmission stuck in 3rd gear

You can disconnect the cables and manually shift through the ranges directly at the transmission. If it engages all ranges, the problem should be fairly obvious.
