window scratches

`95 Firebird, both door windows have been scratched vertically from repeated use over the years. The scratches are coming from the window guides on the outside of the glass surface. pulling back the weather stripping I can see two on each door. Does anyone know how they are fastened to the door itself and if they are changable. or has anyone ever repaired theirs in some way as to not scratch the glass anymore. I`m looking to tint my windows and will likely have to change glass and do not want to ruin new windows

Re: window scratches

I had the same problem on my 97 Camaro. They are held in place with a bolt. I removed the door panel, removed the bolt and installed the new guide I had purchased from the dealer. It did not take long or cost much.
