car not braking right

Hi I recently got my struts replaced and my car aligned but the vibration from braking is still thier albiet a little smoother . my tires have all been balanced within the last 3 months. and a harsh vibration starts at 75 mph it used to start at 55 before my strut change and alignment. any idea what this could be?

Re: car not braking right

could be warped brake rotors. is this only when braking from high speeds ?

Also if your lug nuts are to tight it can warp your rotors.
They should all be @ 100 ft lbs.

its at almost all speeds anything higher than ten mph. I think the rim is bent it doesnt fit right around the hub

Re: car not braking right

That could certainly cause a vibration.

Re: car not braking right

Have you thought about replacing the tie-rods/ends? Also the thud you mentioned; is it when you accelerate from a stop after releasing the break?
I had the same problem with my grand am and it ended up being either a housing or a bushing. I can't remember which one though.

Re: car not braking right

well replaced rotors nothing. replacing calipers tommorrow because the brake pads are still grinding against rotor hopefully this will fix the problem with shaking too and the thud happens at all speeds at every revolution of the wheel..........................:banghead ::banghead ::banghead ::banghead :

Re: car not braking right

If you pads are grinding your return clips on the calipers are probly bad. They sell a little kit for around $15 to replace all those pieces.

Also make sure you torqu your lug nuts to 100 ft lbs or you'll warp out your new rotors.

On the thud something must be hitting a rotor or rim.

Good Hunting,
and have a great Easter everyone!

Re: car not braking right

Did you also replace the clips and grease the slide pins ?
That could cause your grinding...

That other noise could be your CV joint...
Jack up the front and support with jack stands, then move the wheel around and see if you can isolate the noises.

Re: car not braking right

I think G/As have different inside/outside pads. If they're switched, it will cause a grind/rub noise. Make sure there are no rivets that hit the caliper.
