'93 RS Problem

On my way home today I started to notice an odd, rotten type odor being blown in through the vents (Like coolant). Shortly thereafter my tempature guage started slowly creeping up. Immediately I pulled over and turned off the engine. After popping the hood, and a look underneath the car I found the problem. Coolant was leaking very badly. I looked around the engine and checked the hoses I could see hoping that maybe one had just came loose but they were all secure. Water pump is fairly new, just recently had cracked heads replaced, and within the past month had the belt tensioner replaced. Got the car towed to a repair shop but it had already closed for the day. Any idea what could have caused this? Worst case scenario?

well you did a good thing pulling over.A over heated vehicle will screw up a new head job. you definetly got sumin going on to have all that work and loosing coolant now . termostat been changed ? radiator flushed? old hoses:looked good i think taht if you could not tell where the leak was it will be hard for anyonr to tell you worst case so hopefully it will be a simple repair let us know

Found out the problem this morning. The leak was coming from the heater core (a valve or something). What is a reasonable price to get something like that fixed?

OH sh!@#$%^&*(it... if it is the heater core just changed mine out last weekend boy what a job. Just about the whole dash comes out ,steering wheel , good idea to remove front seats. what a pita ..price no Idea Best guess 800.00$....part at store 30.00$

just another thought you could bypass the heater core. save money till you could get it fixed or fix it your self. either plug lines like in the old days or get a kit I think, and loop the supply and return side together. I believe the loop is the have to in todays cars for proper coolant flow.
