Do I need to take off the half driveshaft to get the pump out? I have it removed from the vehicle, but I can't get a spot big enough to actually get it out. I have had it in every direction and it won't fit anywhere. What am I missing? Please help ASAP. Its a 3.0 L engine

Re: Can't get power steering pump out of '98 voyager
On my '96 3.3 I had to remove the catalytic convertor and then the exhaust system hangers and islolators and move the exhaust as far as possible away from the area to get the pump out.

Re: Can't get power steering pump out of '98 voyager
I know it's probably too late now, but there is an easy way to get the PS pump out on the V6 engines.
Simply remove the CRANKSHAFT PULLEY. You can then manouvre the PS pump out through the wheelarch. If the car is up on jackstands, so that the wheel is clear of the ground, the driveshaft will be hanging low enough down so that there is no need to remove the wheel. I tried for a whole day to remove the pump through the exhaust tunnel - no way would it go, with or without the bracket attached. My Voyager is the 3.3L V6. |
