99 tracker front diff ?

The right front push in drive axle is loose where it goes into diff housing. Is it most likely the diff housing bearing ? Or will replacing the drive axle correct this? And is the bearing and seal easily replacable from the outside or does the diff have to come out and replace from inside? TIA

Up and down or in and out play.
Is it giving problems.
Get a dial indicater on it and tell us how much play it has.
Right side may be a bushing on axel shaft but not sure on that.
Pull axel out and look at it for wear first.
Then check parts book for bushing or bearing.

How much movement?
Some play is normal.
Is it giving you any problems?
Is the seal leaking?

Re: 99 tracker front diff ?

Hi thanks for your time. Yes there is a prob, it's vibrating up front somewhere and that is all I can find that seems loose. The driveaxles seem ok, as do the wheel bearings. The seal does have a leak but it is not too bad as in its not dripping and when I check the level its never low.
