Sacramento CA residents know of a good tranny shop?

Ive been looking over tranny shops by the 5 and 10's and they all just seem very shady. I realize this is a shot in the dark but what the heck! Does anyone know of any good/honest/reputable transmission shops in the Sacramento county? Hell if you know of a good one in Placer, Ill take it too.

What is your transmission problem?

Yes good transmission shops are sometimes hard to find.
I would stay away from the big chain stores.

To find a good repair shop.
Check around Ask around
Word of mouth.
Family friends coworkers neighbors business people and delivery people.
Mailmen and parcel delivery people get around and notice a lot of stuff.
Even a good parts house knows what shops are good and not good.
Chamber of commerce and better business bureau and city hall.
If you find a good referral to a repair shop go look them over and talk to them.
Look for a clean looking busy place with nice people running it.
Ask a few questions and ask about their qualifications and training.
Not all places have trained tech/mechanics.
If they do not find a place that does.
Even all dealers do not have all trained techs/mechanics.

Try to post the link to it.
It would save me a lot of hunting for it.

Re: Sacramento CA residents know of a good tranny shop?

To find how bad the transmission is it needs checked out on a transmission capable scanner to find out where the slipage is and how much it is slipping.
A lot of people do a valve body repair on them and have some luck.
But usually the root cause of a code 1870 is internal transmission problems or pressure lose.

You can get a lot of different prices on a rebuilt transmission and there is a wide range of quality work and parts.
Jaspher and a few other rebuilders have good rebuilt transmissions.
And some local transmission shop have in house rebuits or can rebuild your.
But be sure to check the shop out good.

The shop you talked to was a little high but he is right on telling you the only way you can give a true price on rebuilding is to take it out and tear it down and check it out.
And remember do not shop price but shop for quality.
Check him out he may be high but may be good.

Beware of any place that gives you a flat price on a transmission rebuilt.
But you can get a set price on a exchange rebuilt or used transmission.

For 2K or more you should get a top of the line rebuilt transmission.

I like the GM factory rebuilt transmissions.
They come with a 3 year and 50K or more parts and labor warranty.

Check out your GM dealer and see if you can get a discount on one.

If you can get a good discount they will run you 1500-1800$ us. not installed.
Good Luck
