64' Heater core?

Hey guys!

I need to replace the heater core on my 64' Sport Fury, I can't find anything in the manuals I have on how to do it, nor can I find anything by using the search function on the forum!

I have a sinking feeling I need to remove the most of the dash in order to get to the core, as i can't see a simple way of doing it, unless I'm missing something! I was hoping it would be a easy fix!

Can someone shed some light on how to do this?

Thanks in Advance

Re: 64' Heater core?

Thanks for the help, but the link goes to a Ford Mustang diagram. Couldn't find anything on the AuteZone site for the Plymouth Sport Fury!

The heater core and box are under the dash right on the firewall, there is no access from the engine bay!

I'll try to post a few pics in the morning!

Re: 64' Heater core?

those are pretty small. They fit out from under the dash.
If you have a/c it is a little tougher.
There are 3 bolts sticking through the fire wall that hold it on.
One bracket inside behind the radio. I think there might be one more near there but they come appart at the same point.
The last place is where the fresh air comes in on the passenger side. It has to be unbolted from the box, or from the side and take it out with the box.

What I do is take one of the heater hoses off and blow compressed air through it so the spew isn't inside when I turn it on its side. But kind of silly since yours leaks.
