my daughter got her license this past Friday ( the 13th ). So, I gave her one of my tbirds, and as hard as it is to believe. She has a problem with it all ready! The driver side power window will not go up and down without pulling or pushing on it. the motor turns and sounds like it isnt catching. I pulled the door panel off to investigate and it is very difficult to see anything. I am assuming I have a stripped gear on the motor, or something of that nature. Does anyone have good directions for getting the motor out and reinstalling it. Also what size nuts and bolts I would need to reinstall it after I drill out the rivets. Any assistance or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Randy ![]() |

Re: 1994 tbird power window repair questions
There are three nylon bushings in the gear housing that have self destructed. HELP! makes a kit for $15, you should also be able to get a kit from most auto chains. You do not need to buy a motor! The repair is straight forward. I have not done a 94 but have done 64, 65, 85, 86, 87, 88 and 1990 T-Birds. If this body follows the mid 80's the hardest part is drilling out access holes in the interior door skin (after you remove the door panel). there should be three dimples in the door where you drill each one out - just large enough to get a socket through to the bolts that hold the motor in place.
Make sure you clean the housing well and remove all traces of the destroyed nylon bushings! Hope this helps. |

Re: 1994 tbird power window repair questions
Thanks for the information. We were both incorrect though! It was un believeably simple to replace. No drilling required. Motor is bolted right to the door. Unplug motor, Remove three bolts, Install new motor in its place and recycle the three self tapping bolts from the old motor and turn them right in.
