Ultimately depends on you and you ability or resources to get her up and running.

By modulator, I'm assuming they are refering to a vacuum modulator.

Re: Is it a good deal...

I guess so, like I said, its a first car and as for knowledge, I have 1 yr of autoshop under my belt, so i know the workings of a motor, but can only really WORK on a lawnmower engine...
but for $795 its good right?

Re: Is it a good deal...

It's always risky buying a car that isn't running. You don't know of any other mechanical issues hiding, from the engine to the transmision and back...

Re: Is it a good deal...

If the body is solid and you're buying it as a "toy", the price is definately in means.

Re: Is it a good deal...

if its a straight body, with little to no rust, then the body itself would be worth that amount. its probably sporting a 305, so if you're wanting it to be a fast toy, then you'll probably be swapping in a new engine anyway.

just go see it in person and see how straight the body is, check for rust. and see what shape the interior is in

Which the car doesn't have. The 700R4's don't have vacuum modulators and that is the transmission that came from the factory.
If that is what they are saying is wrong with it, I'd pass. It proves that they don't know jack about what they are selling. What other things are wrong with the car that they don't know or are hiding?

Or.....Ignition Module for the HEI.....would explain why it doesn't run....but not why they wouldn't put a ($20?) part in to get more money for the car...

Re: Is it a good deal...

I personally have to say that most 80's cars are complete POS's and $800 is asking a lot. Not to mention, if they are not willing to replace the part themselves to get a better sale on the car, than you can guarantee that there are probably more problems than they say there are.

I have also found that when they play the "we dont speak real good english game", they are only doing that to get you to stop asking questions.

A none running 86 camaro is not worth nearly 800 bucks. My 78 none running camaro isn't even worth that much. The only way they can make it a worth it deal is if they warranty the car for more than a 1,000 miles, or for at least 9 months. which they are very unlikely to do.

You would be much better off to buy a running Camaro, which if you prefer an 80's camaro, you can check out www.craiglist.org and you can find at least a running POS 80's camaro for that price.

Interesting points. Slightly opinionated, but interesting none the less.

A guy i know went all the way down to arizona (from wisconsin) to get a 4th gen for a really good deal. Everyone knew he was making a mistake but that didnt bother him, he got it anyways. Same story...it was cheap and needed only little repair. He got it home and 2 weeks later he had to put a new engine in it. Then he had to put a tranny in it a few weeks later. Now he got a new paintjob because it was all crappy from cheap bodywork done before him. So now he has thousands of dollars in it and its still a pos. He got it from a small mexican guy dealership with no warrantys or anything.
