Killed a Z4

Sorry, kinda tired, no pithy title.

So I got the boost leak fixed totally, now I'm spiking to 17 pounds, holding a solid 16. Its nice. Did a few of the cheap free mods as well (stretched out the coil springs, removed my shifter counter wieght). Shifting is a bit cripser now, but I still want a short throw and some bushings for it, but the coils got rid of some stutter I was having. Car pulls like a raped ape in fifth gear now. To bad thats the 100-120 range and I'm starting to let off by then, lol.

Anyway. Some of us are trying to get a new meet up going in our area, to get away from the highschool kids in daddy's 'Vette and the wanna be biker boyz that all meet up about a hundred yards from a police station. I know, smart. Had the first one last Saturday, and turn out was two Speed3s, a regular 3, a loud as all hell Miata, and an '07 350Z. We are hoping to have more this week, so, fingers crossed.

After bullshitting around in the parking lot and chilling at Wingstop till they kicked us out, we went out for a crusie. For the most part it was your usual fly bys and stuff, just having a good time. At one point, the other Speed3 and myself tried getting a new Mustang GT to play, but as soon as he would get on it and we would, he would let off...

After some more cruising, the 350Z lined up with a Z4 convertable, 3.0si, still had the paper plates. I was behind the other Speed and as they took off, I got pined in behind the other Speed and soccer mom SUV, so I couldn't follow. Finally got out and ran them down. The 350 had let off and waved me past, so I went after the Z4. Lined up next to him about 75.

I heard him downshift and he got on it. Had just about a nose on me when I slipped it from fifth to fourth and punched it. Killed anything he had resembling a pull fast. Hit fifth at 100, had about a length on him and was still pulling. I held it out to about 125ish (at least I think it was around 125, thats when my shift lift comes on in fifth) when I lifted. He was about two lengths back, maybe a bit more. Couldn't tell if he waved or anything because he had real dark window tint, but I waved anyway.

On the other end of the news...my test pipe should be coming in the next few weeks. So time to commit a federal offense! Wahoo.

sweet. keep on racking up the kills with the speed 3. so what do you have so far? would be interesting what the speed 3 would do with some agressive cams.

Nice kill. Too bad it couldn't have been a kill in something other than a quicker station wagon.

What you folks got against Mazda

Or do I get the hunch there is an underlying hatred for CassiesMan that everyone here lets loose every once and a while...? haha

What are some of the free mods you got done to the MZR?

Those pretty simple things to do? Do they make enough difference for it to be worth the trouble to do them?

Stretching the coil springs doesn't do anything major, but it doesn't hurt. And it takes about ten minutes. Same with removing the counterweight, it just took some PB Blaster and brute strength. It takes alot of the rubbery feel out of the shifter, but it is a whole lot notchier know. I'm about to pick up the TWM bushings, and if those work ok, I'll put the counterweight back on and we'll see how that works.

Re: Killed a Z4

you should let me know how those bushings work. And how exactly are you familiar with the characteristics of a raped ape? Not that i want to know the answer to that, it may just force me to end my life.

what brand test pipe did you pick up?

Re: Killed a Z4

nice kill, ive seen a few Z4's but none of them ever wanted to race.

Wow our gears are different. 3rd gear will take me to 105 in my car, 4th gear will go to 135 i think. And 5th gear. . .not really sure. Ive seen videos of cobalts going 160MPH.

Corksport, though I may be suckered into flipping it and picking up a one piece downpipe-midpipe that is about 200 less than the CP-e but is quite well recomended.

It's easy.

1. It's from the 80s.
2. It's a Chrysler.
3. It's FWD.
4. It's worth about $1.
5. It's got a huge dent in the side.
6. One of the brake pads came apart during a race.

I'm Civ will chime in with some other reasons.
