looking to buy impreza whcih year?

i was looking at the older models 1993-2001, I have a budget of about 10,000. I was wondering which model would give me the best performance for my $. and what modifications should i do that fit in my under 10,000. appreciate all the help i can get

What are you buying the car for?

My advice on mods is start with the handling - suspension struts, sway bars, tower braces. Once you've done these then worry about what's under the hood.
Engine mods - start with the exhaust and then intake and work from there.

i was looking for mostly a dd but will probably drive it hard, and go to the track on the weekends

Do for a 00-01 2.5RS coupe or sedan. the 98 model has head gasket issues and the 99 model does not have a rear LSD (while the 00 and 01 models do).

I have an 00 2.5 rs and even stock its a very fun peppy dd.
