Grand Marquis oil light

When my 2001 Grand Marquis is cold, the oil warning light is on. When the auto warms up, the light goes off. Should I replace the sensor, and if so, where on the engine is the sensor located?

Re: Grand Marquis oil light

It sounds like that is your problem since the light is on while the engine is cold. The sending unit is close to the oil filter. It is easily seen if you look from up under the vehicle to the oil filter housing.

My 2000 Marquis does the same thing. It started just after I began to use Synthetic Oil. There may be a situation where the oil pressure is low at start up and triggering the oil light to come on, or the sensor is faulty, or it is just 'one of those things'.

Seems these cars have LOTS of electrical problems!
