Turning my 300zx into a Turbo
I just bought a 1995 300zx and i have fallen in love with the car. Unfortunately at the time in which i purchased the car I hadnt saved up enough money so I wasnt able to get a turbo. I read on someones reply that it would cost about 6ooo to make it a turbo but Im still not sure of what parts i will need and where I can get the work done. I live in Texas and if any one knows a place within the state or those surrouning where i can get the work done or what parts i will need would be much appreciated.
Thanks |

You should have saved more money and just bought a turbo car.
Sell it and buy one, it'll be cheaper and you'll be happier |

I agree. Not only that but there are other differences between the cars such as suspension and tire size. I also think that the turbo has the 4 wheel steering and the NT does not, but I may be wrong.

Yeah man way too much work. Your not just looking at throwing on turbos & an intercooler. It's fuel pump, injectors, lowering the compression, turbos, intercoolers, piping, radiator, ecu, run oil and cooling lines for the turbos...and the list goes on! The suspension has nothing to do with the engine change, but you are correct. The TT models came with a optional suspension upgrade that allowed you to switch from a touring softer suspension to a stiffer sport setting. I am not sure if that was an available option on the N/A??? The TT also had the Super HICAS sytem, which is the all wheel steering we hear so much about. It is nothing special, it would just turn the wheels a degree or two during high speeds to aid in handling. Now you would think...well then what about an engine swap??? Well the sad part is that I believe the two cars had different mounting positions. Plus you would need a place to mount the intercoolers. That could be handled by getting an after market bumper or a TT one. You still would have to do fuel pump, ecu, boost gauges, install the whole damn thing, new hoses, radiator, possiblly all new wires, if they are cut. So, you see it is not all icing on the cake. I know all this because...you can look at my car...It is a 95' N/A. I am in the same boat, that is why I am opting to spend about $5000 on a complete car that should put up 12's...possible 11's. Check out the racing/street racing forum and look for the thread It's Time Forshizzle. That is all about my soon to be drag project. Good Luck buddy! The Z is an easy car to fall in love with!

Good Choice!
First go to peoplefirst.com and get preapproved for a low interest car loan and than hit EBAY. You will find plenty on their. |

or you can find a Z with some mechanical problems like bushings, rack & pinion and fix the problems for cheap and only end up spending about 1k on the repairs and only 3k total on the car, i have a Z shop that i go to that will do the entire swap parts and labor for 5k, and they can do it in less than a week so your car wont be outta comission for long, and total you will have only spent 8k on a car with low mile engine, and you will already have the N/A rear end which some people decide to swap in to their TT so theres my two cents take it for what its worth
