'98 rav4 2wd Speedometer doesn't work

I have changed the $200.00 speed sensor but the speedometer still doesn't work, (or the odometer). Any ideas?

I have made quite a detailed reply to a simular question a few days ago on the site below under "item 4.2 Faults and Fixes". If you can not find the reference I will type the reply (concerning a water leak in the windshield seal running down a cableform and getting into a wiring connector down near the the floor) into this forum but it is quite a long description.
