Stalls in drive not in reverse

I came off the highway the other day and stopped at the light. When the light changed and I tried to ride off, the car stopped as though the brakes where applied. the (abs) light came on and the car died. I took the abs fuse out, cranked it and it died again in drive. It doesn't stall in neutral or reverse but has a slight vibration in reverse and a clatter from the idler.

****I unplugged the connector from the transmission and the same problem persists. Any help would be appreciatted****

Can you explain the above in more detail? This is probably not the cause of the engine stalling, however, if it is the A/C compressor, who knows?

Re: Stalls in drive not in reverse

the idler is moving a little too much causing the clattering sound in reverse. I had to be jumped three times in 2 days because of a grounded audio wire, and I think the computer could have been affected

Re: Stalls in drive not in reverse

Well I tried a new computer, didn't work. I changed the fuel regulator beause there was a fuel odor in the vacuum lines. Fuel pressure and vacuum measured okay. Pvc valve rattles pretty good Right know Im Checking for any grounded wires.

Re: Stalls in drive not in reverse

Update on the symptoms, if I floor the pedal in drive it will move 3ft. before acting like its shifted into park and abruptly stopping cold in its tracks. Anyone know where I can find a rebuilt tranny cheap I'm in miami.

Re: Stalls in drive not in reverse

If the transmission isn't electronic then you might want to try the vacuum actuator on the front of the transmission.
