'02 YukonXL + low fuel + overnight = no start
Sounds confusing doesn't it!
'02 Yukon XL 1500 5.3L Vortec FF engine (Using E-85 75% of the time) 103,000 miles If the gas gauge reads less than 1/4 tank, and you let the truck sit for over 6 hours (overnight) it cranks, but doesn't start. You hear the fuel pump run as normal. If you add fuel to bring the gauge to 1/4 tank, truck will start right up. You can drive the truck right through the "low fuel" light right down to "E", including stopping for a dinner-and-a-movie (about 3hrs.) while on "E" without a problem. Next morning, will not start. Add fuel to bring to 1/8 tank, still nothing. Add more fuel to bring to 1/4 tank, starts right up and good for the day! Replaced fuel filter and had pump volume/pressure tested at 1/8 tank, all was well. Any ideas??http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...s/banghead.gif

Re: '02 YukonXL + low fuel + overnight = no start
There is nothing factory that makes it not start when below 1/4 tank.
I would check the fuel pressure when its below a 1/4 and wont start. Could be that the pressure is too weak when the gas is that low wich could be the fuel pump. Test the fuel pressure and see what it does...its the only way I can think of to start pointing fingers at parts. Let us know what you get.

Re: '02 YukonXL + low fuel + overnight = no start
Did anyone find the problem that causes the Yukons not to start with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel. Mine just started the same thing, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |
