1985 Trans Am FINISHED *PICS*

I've had this kit longer than my wife and kids. Finally took the time to build it.
This was my most favorite 3rd gen and so I built it in the launch colors. Or, how I would have purchased a real one had I the money.
TS-14 Black, TS13-Clear on body
TS-46 Sand interior with Testor's tan flocking.
My how I have forgotten how bad the decals were back in the day. Lots of milky film and thick. Since the decals have been drying some of them have wrinkled a bit. I hope to get them to lay down with some Micro set.
Lots of different glues to hold this thing together because unbeknown to me the body had a slight warp as did the front and rear window. Epoxy is holding the front window and then CA glue to hold the rear taillight/bumper to the car.
Here are a couple of pics:

More of the build can be seen here:

Monogram 1985 Trans Am

Back to exotics....

I almost couldn`t believe my eyes when I saw the title of this thread. I thought "it couldn`t be....!!"

Super nice work on this, it looks great!! It brings back fond memories for me. I probably built about 10 of these kits back when it was an annual kit. I loved Knight Rider as a kid, and ever since I`ve loved this body style, especially in black and tan (like KITT )
Again, great work, and thanks for sharing! Do you have any more like this to build? Please share if you do!

Re: 1985 Trans Am FINISHED *PICS*

Hawk, thanks! I do have the 87 GTA and I should have the Aoshima K.I.T.T. in my hands on Saturday. The one with the working led light. I'm probably going to start that as soon as my Ferrari is finished.
I am looking for the Monogram Turbo Trans Am too. I'll get one eventually.
Now that I know the nuances of these kits I should be able to bang them out much better.
Thanks again.
I can't believe all the glowing comments here (insert sarcasm) LOL

When I first read your post, I quick jumped over to ebay to find one (the Aoshima kit). Do you have a picture of that one? I can`t believe this, but I actually don`t recall ever seeing that kit. And I thought I had seen every Firebird/Trans Am kit!
Yeah, anything american and with a V8 can be a tough sell on here. But you are an old-timer like me, so you know what it`s like.
Let me know if you need help with the Turbo Trans Am. From memory, it is just the GTA kit with the different engine and decals. I know I have the kit somewhere, and wouldn`t mind sending you the engine pieces and the decals IF I have them.

Re: 1985 Trans Am FINISHED *PICS*

The Aoshima kit was released and sold out! My first place to order it was already out and I had to hit HLJ for a few more yen, but I got one and I'm happy:

Here's the link to a completed auction with the features:
Knight Rider

I will be working on this one as soon as my Ferrari is finished.

Oh yeah, just as a side note, this kit has already stopped production. Another Aoshima limited run.
Hope you can find one!

God I always hated those wheels...

Amazing build though, glad to see some nice attention going to a stock, clean 3rd gen f-body.

I like this car. The combination of colours was very good. Nice model.
