1987 Cutlass Supreme low fuel light

Hello everyone I have a 1987 Olds Cutlass Supreme w/t-tops, love the car! I have had it for 10 months or so and haven't seen my low fuel light come on yet and am wondering if anyone with this car knows how low the fuel guage has to get before the light comes on? Mabye im just not letting it get low enough because id love to know if it works any way of testing them besides running the car out of gas? (which i've heard can not be good to suck up all the gunk in the bottom of the tank)

any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Re: 1987 Cutlass Supreme low fuel light

I'd sure like to know that as well. I've got an 85, and like you, have not seen the light in the 3 years i've had it. When the fuel gauge gets below 1/4 tank, its all over the place, and i dont know how low it can go. If you ever figure it out, let me know.
