Electronic Lock Issue. HELP!!

I have a 2006 Grand Prix Sedan. When I unlock the door using my remot it will unlock the door as it should. My problem is when I lift the handle and pull on the door the door locks and pulls part way open. (When I say part way imagine how a door looks when it doesnt get all the way shut). It is not doing this on any other door but the drivers side door.

The crazy thing is if I hit the unlock button again and pull up real quick on the handle I can get the door open before the lock has a chance to go back down again.

I sure hope there is a Pontiac Genius out there that can get me pointed in a the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Sounds like a door lock solenoid issue. I have seen many of these, especially with Chrysler automobiles. If you have access to wiring diagrams and feel comfortable diagnosing electrical problems go for it. If you need more help, ask.

Re: Electronic Lock Issue. HELP!!

This is what I would try. Of course, I don't know if it would work, but here goes. Open the door and then push on the little plunger near the hinge that tells the car that the door is closed. Now lock the door. Listen to note that the door locked. Now unlock the door. After that, release the little plunger, making the car think that the door has been opened. See if the door locks again. This plunger also lights the interior lights. Maybe there is a short somehow. Hope this helps.
