fuse question

Hi, all you electrical gurus out there, i need some help. I've got a 2000 GP GT and my auto-dim mirror doesn't work. Its not cloudy or anything, its perfectly reflective as a mirror should be, it just doesn't auto-dim. I notice there is a button on the bottom but it does nothing when i press it, no light or anything. I looked at the fuse panel diagram and didn't see one for the mirror, does anyone know where it draws power?

Coincidentally my heated seat does not heat up either, the switch lights up in high and low, but no heat. I checked the two fuses that relate to the heated seat (my power seat and lumbar work fine) so maybe the heating element is out? previous owner thinks they both went out at the same time. Has anyone had problems like this stemming from the electrical connection under the seat? Would it be worth my time to remove the seat/connection to clean it since the power and lumbar work fine?

Slightly off topic, but where is your temp gauge read normally? Mine reads about 180 or 185 (halfway or less between the 160 and 210 marks on the gauge). It does get heat, i just think the gauge should be closer to the 210 mark at normal operating temp. No check engine lights are on either. Seems the radiator cap does not get hot either until after the car is turned off and sits for a bit but i think the radiator cap is on the "cool" side of the system?? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From the ignition switch in either the ACCY or RUN positions and from there feeds to the Sunroof fuse (20 amp). Doesn't make any difference if you don't have a sunroof. That fuse is still used.

Wouldn't hurt. Also, check the wiring harness for any damaged/frayed wiring.

For normal operating temperature and after sufficient engine warmup the temp gauge should read around the regulating temperature of the thermostat more or less and with no cooling system issues. Stock thermostat is 195 degrees. A reading of 210 degrees is OK but on the high side. Your weather could be a factor.

Re: fuse question

Thanks for the info BNaylor, you nailed the rear view mirror problem. There was no fuse in the sunroof spot. I actually found one on the plastic splash shield while removing my oil filter. cleaned it up and plugged it in and voila, mirror is powered and working!!

Does anyone have a write up on removing the front valve cover? I've got a pretty good oil leak from the cover near the coil packs. Does the engine dogbone on the passenger side have to be removed to remove the front valve cover? Any other obstacles i may face doing this, i'm figuring on an hour or two, does that sound right?
