Assuming you mean Manual, this isn't a problem.... You need to install a safety (lockout) switch that will only allow it to start in neutral --- most kits should have this available.

Also, try starting it in neutral withough pushing in the clutch. If it starts there you go. Some older cars do not have to have the clutch pushed in to start.

I've never seen a car that can't be started without clutch being depressed...

Most of myt 5-speeds could be started w/out clutch depression... Then again, most were Turbo dodges. But my stang, my Stealth, and my RX-7 that I had could all be started w/out clutch depression.. also, this is easily overridden.

Clifford makes a remote start for manual transmissions. You must have the vehicle key started. Then remote start the vehicle, remove the key, exit the vehicle, close the doors and arm the alarm. At this point the car shuts down. You may remote start the vehicle next time you need to provided a door has never come open. This prevents the vehicle from possibly being put in gear.

Interesting . . .

I installed an alarm system with remote start on my car (manual) . . .

I got around the clutch issue by permanently connecting the two wires that would be connected upon depressing the clutch . . . now i don't ever have to step on the clutch to start the car.

The alarm packaging explicitly said: "Not to be used on vehicles with standard transmission" . . . but I just thought that was because of bone-heads that keep their car in gear after shutting it off (what's that about anyway?) . . .

Long story short . . . the remote start won't work . . . the car comes on as if i have put the key in and turned it to the "II" position on the ignition . . . the guages come to life . . . but that's it. It was such a pain in the ass installing the damned thing that I refuse to take it out . . .

Here's the wiring spec's on your car. My thought is that you have hit the second starter wire as your crank wire, but all it does it hit the fuel injection enrichment for start. Both starter wires have to be hit for it to crank and start.

This may not line up right on this page, but here goes...

Hey . . . thanks for that!

That sounds about right . . . cause for some reason it was recommended to me that I only use one starter wire (??). Somebody told me something like that was all we needed on these cars or something like that . . .

Also . . . what is the exact location of that door lock wire? that's another thing I had a problem with.
