Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

Has anyone bought this kit, and what do you think of it? Both HLJ and Hobby Search have it in stock, but Hobby Search hasn't posted scanned pics of the instructions yet.

Re: Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

There are photos of the built car on Fujimi's site, looks pretty good, better than a Tamiya "closed up" because the Tamiya doors and especially the engine cover don't fit particularly well in the closed position.

Check out this site. The text is in Japanese, but the photos tell you what to expect from the Fujimi's Enzo kit.

Hah, that sums it up!
tamiya is still the most (best) comprehensive enzo money can buy.
like they say, pay peanuts & you get monkeys!

i'm not a loyal fan of fujimi kits, for the lack of a full engine puts me off...
to me this is the main difference between (real) model kits, compare to my son's diecasts!!!

hehe

cheers!

Re: Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

If I didn't already have a Tamiya Enzo and a couple of Revell Enzos, I would buy this one. It's the only one w/the correct front end, and should look spectacular when built. Body panels will fit better than a real Enzo

Fujimi...please do FXX Evoluzione, m'kaythnx.

Re: Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

Thanks Hiro for the links! The Fujimi kit looks decent overall, despite the engine insert. Couldn't they mold the top half separately to ease painting?!? The Revell kit looks awful.

I sold my Tamiya Enzo kit with Sakatsu A,B,C sets because I didn't think I was ever going to build it. Now I want one, but missed out on an eBay auction the other night for an Enzo + Scale Motorsport kit.

Go to "comparison" page one and scroll down to where you can compare fascias and front fenders. On a 1:1 Enzo the front fascia and the lower skirts are molded as one piece. Fujimi molded the Enzo front fascia in the correct fashion. Tamiya/Revell molded the lower front skirts to the fenders, the rest of the fascia is separate. This results in an incorrect and visible parting line that a vast majority of builders fail to fill when building their models It's almost comical to see uber-detailed carbon-fibered and aftermarket parts-rich Enzos and this detail gets missed because it's a flaw inherent in the Tamiya kit. Small detail, but it's nice that after two previous attempts that Fujimi figured it out.

Some people say the Revell kit sucks. I've seen them built by several people, and they look great finished. At least in the US, a Revell Enzo is a steal, commonly available for a fraction of the cost of a Tamiya. Elsewhere in the world if the prices are comparable, then by all means the Tamiya or Fujimi is better. A well-built Revell Enzo looks better to my eyes than an average build of a Tamiya, simply because the body panels fit and line up on the Revell kit; the Tamiya kit looks best all opened up. If you like the design aspect of the Enzo more than the mechanical aspects, stick w/Revell or especially Fujimi. If you want all the bells/whistles and an impressive opened appearance, go w/Tamiya. In real life the Enzo is arguably better looking all opened up just like the Tamiya kit If you're a Japanese kit freak, build matching Enzos from Tamiya and Fujimi, display the Tamiya kit all opened up, display the Fujimi kit next to it.

Here's the Fujimi page with their built Enzo:

Interesting observation and I see your point.

I'll try and remember that piece of information for future use

EDIT:
So what's the deal with the front hood slots. I noticed in that comparative evaluation that the Tamiya and Revell hood slots have a similar shape but the Fujimi ones are quite different.
BTW Am I mistaken or was the author of that evaluation inconsistent in the way he ordered the photos in that thread? i.e. he sometimes switched the order if the models in the photos.

So nice to have options. . .

I rolled my eyes the first time I saw this kit on their site. Looks nice though. . .

Re: Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

I have the new Fujimi ki of the Enzo.It arrived a couple of days ago and it is in my opinion a very nice kit.Sure it is not as detailed as the all singing all dancing Tamiya kit but if you want a nice, simple, crisply molded Enzo,it really can't be beaten especially when you consider the price factor as well. Not everybody wants to build a super detailed model but they maybe want an Enzo on their shelf. The Fujimi kit is perfect for that.

Re: Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

ok fujimi may look perfect when built properly, but I wouldn't have much fun building it. it is aimed for looks, no engine detail and such. I'm currently building a fujimi murcielago and an AMT camaro 70 1/2 and I've got to say, AMT is much, much more fun to build. even if you want to make a quick build, you still have so much detail to take care of and you get the "feeling of the machine", if you know what I mean. it feels more like you're building a scale model. and also you can always modifiy, add even more details and stuff. it means much more freedom to me, than building a fujimi kit, which involves just an interior and a perfectly scaled down body. and a car such as murcielago or enzo wouldn't get "personalized" as much as a muscle car could do.

in short, I don't think I'll build supercar models, especially from fujimi for sometime. It's just not much fun to build, since there's not much to build in it.

Re: Fujimi Ferrari Enzo

I suppose when you consider the price difference it's not actually that much.I just looked on HLJ where the Tamiya Enzo is about £18 and the Fujimi about £13 so only about £5 difference.'You pays your money and makes your choice'
