05 Yukon Denali interior problems
On my 2005 Yukon Denali I just got I noticed on the back of my key fobs they have a number 1 and number 2 from my experience recalls the memory positions when you push the unlock button. I noticed that my Yukon does not do this, is it supposed to work or will it have to be specially programmed by gm to enable that option.
The next things I noticed that on the climate control some of the button lights do not work or work intermittently when I tap on the unit and the same with the fog light switch. Is there bulbs that need to be replaced or would the whole unit need to be replaced? On the navigation radio the buttons have the printing wore off of them to where I can tell what button it is until I push it to see what it does. Is there a place where I can get new buttons to install?? Also the driver seat leather is cracking and flaking off pretty badly around the seat bolsters and the left side of the seat where your shoulder would be, (more that I would think for 32000 miles). I have seen that there are companies out there that can repair those cracks and flaking to where you couldn't see that they were ever there. Does these kind of repairs actually last or would I see this happen shortly down the road??? Now I understand that with normal use these cracks and flaking would be normal with age with leather I just didn't think that with 32000 miles this wouldn't be that bad. This Yukon is still covered under factory warranty till October of this year or 39000 miles since it is a certified used Vehicle, would any of this be covered under that warranty??????

Re: 05 Yukon Denali interior problems
Hey,
1. On my 03 Tahoe, you can select it to recall the memory settings based on the #1 or #2 remote. You scroll through the DIC until you get to "Seat Position Recall" and select "On Remote." But, I've read that they discontinued that feature in 2004 or 2005. They kept the numbers on the remotes, though...it was probably cheaper than scrapping the old remotes for a new remote without the numbers on it. 2. The lights behind the buttons are LED bulbs. I've seen writeups on how to replace them...you have to dismantle the dash and pull out the unit and resolder in new bulbs. A pain to do but others have done it. I haven't seen replacement buttons, but I've heard where people had the dealer fix them or replace the entire unit. It's a real common problem. 3. The seats, as you've found, benefit from regular conditioning but I guess the previous owner didn't do that. I'd be wondering about any "repair" that you could make short of replacing the damaged piece. You probably get what you pay for and I'd bet the results wouldn't be that great. If you look on ebay, you can buy factory replacement leather covers for around $150 per piece (seat bottom or seat back). You take the seats out, pull off the old leather and then put the new leather on. I hear it isn't that difficult to do, just time consuming and that's probably about what you'd pay to have someone "repair" the damaged seat portion. 4. If your warranty is bumper-to-bumper, then I'd get them to fix the above issues. Since it's an 05, it should have the factory bumper-to-bumper for 36,000 miles or 3 years since the date it was put into service. The dealer could confim that and it would apply whether you are the original owner or not. If that is expired and you only have the certified used car warranty, you'll have to check your warranty conditions, as it may just be a powertrain warranty only. Hope this helps, Scott |
