serpentine belt ?

I know that i have to loosen power steering belt but which way do i turn the tentioner bolt on my 1990 cherokee to loosen the belt. It seems like its not moving for me.

I believe you have to turn it counter clockwise just as if you were removing the bolt. It's been a while since i had mine off but there was another bolt that had to be loosened to allow it to move back and forth to tighten and loosen the belt. I think the bolt was on the top just above the pulley if i remember correctly.

When looking at the power steering pulley, loosen the nut at the top and the lockbolt at the bottom (in the slit). Then you will need to loosen the two bolts on the back of the bracket. The adjusting bolt is on the side below the pump. I believe that clockwise loosens the belt and counter-cw tightens. You can watch the bolt turn inside the bottom of the bracket. It will take a while to do either one.
